Our classes are off and running for an exciting 2017-2018 school year in Music.  We have many new focuses this year and are already pursuing these goals!  Each grade level is working on a core song that they will learn to sing, conduct or play on an instrument, write, and sing solfa syllables.  We have studied our first piece of Music Memory:  Pictures at an Exhibition: Ballet of the Unhatched Chick composed by Mussorgsky.  Visit http://tinyurl.com/UnhatchedChicks to listen to this whimsical  piece of music with your child.  ´╗┐We are now finishing up our second, Exsultate Jubilate: Alleluja. To hear this piece by a Coloratura Soprano sing an entire piece on the single word "allelujah"!  Hopefully, you child will be able to tell you that a Coloratura can perform vocal gymnastics!  Visit http://tinyurl.com/MozartMM17  We will expect students in Kindergarten - 1 to recognize it.  Grades 2 - 4 should be able to tell you the composer's name, the complete name of the work, and some interesting facts!  It's exciting to see how much information your child can retain! In total, we will study 16 Classical works and 16 different composers!
